School of Discipleship

Following Jesus and growing together.
Launching October 2026.
One of our values at Renaissance Church is Discipleship -- that all of us who call Renaissance 'home,' would pursue a lifelong journey of bringing every part of our lives under the lordship of Jesus Christ, being formed by His love.

We've sensed a hunger to support our collective discipleship by digging deeper into core Christian theology, practices, and ethics. We want to explore these areas not to just get more knowledge, but to hopefully be transformed to look more like Jesus and impact the world around us.

We also value Community and believe it's the best way to learn, process, and apply what scripture teaches.

And so this fall, we will pilot a new School of Discipleship, and you're invited to join us

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The School of Discipleship is a shared journey for everyone at Renaissance Church. Each two-hour gathering will consist of connecting with others, teaching, group discussion led by a trained group leader, and snacks. Some evenings will include a Q&A with a pastor. There will also be study and practices to be completed at home by each participant, as part of their commitment to grow. Groups will meet at tables, and participants will meet and build relationships with the same group every week.

The School is made up of three, eight-week terms: Fall, Winter, and Spring. The hope is that participants will plan to commit to all three terms, as they build upon each other. However, commitment will be confirmed at the start of each term.

THREE MODULES, TWO GREAT COMMANDMENTS

When Jesus was asked to choose the greatest commandment, he replied "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.” (Matthew 22:36-40)

The three School of Discipleship modules will focus on unique aspects of these two commands -- what does it practically mean to love God with every part of ourselves and love others as ourselves.
Love God with all your mind
Module 1 will explore big questions about Who God is, and who we are in light of those answers.
Love God with all your heart and soul
Module 2 will explore Christian practices that shape our formation and devotion to God
Love your neighbor as yourself
Module 3 will explore practical skills that allow us to love others well.

ADDITIONAL FAQs

Is the School of Discipleship for me?
There are various ways to grow in your walk with Jesus and connection to others at Renaissance Church.

If you're exploring faith in Jesus, we recommend attending a baptism class, workshop, Bible Study, and/or meetup. If you're a new Christian or just want a refresher on the foundations of how to follow Jesus, we recommend our Foundations Course. If you call yourself a committed Christian, we recommend the School of Discipleship.
Do I need to complete all three modules in the same year?
There are three terms (Fall, Winter and Spring), and each will meet for eight weeks. This is a multi-month journey of growth and community building, and our hope is participants will commit to completing all three modules, in order, between October 2026 - June 2027. Enrollment will be confirmed at the beginning of each term. If you need to take a break from the School , you can complete the modules over more than one year.
What happens after the School of Discipleship?
Once you have completed the School of Discipleship, if you're not already in a Renaissance DNA group, we can help you join one for your ongoing discipleship if you'd like.
What if I am already in a DNA Group? Do I have to leave that group?
This is where the description goes.
