DESCRIPTION

Renaissance Church is a dynamic and multicultural non-denominational church in Harlem with more than 700 regular attendees. In the 10 years since Renaissance’s inception, the church has grown exponentially. To effectively build upon this growth, our goal is to keep our church's rich DNA and culture while taking our church's organizational leadership to the next level.

Reporting to the Lead Pastor, the Senior Operations Director will design and implement scalable systems for all business, HR, finance, and administrative operations to support the church’s mission, values, and growth. The right candidate is an innovative, discerning, and competent servant leader who is passionate about using the right systems to support staff thriving and missional impact.

  • This position is based in New York City. Working five days in Harlem is required.
  • Preference will be given to individuals who have experience working in New York City.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with the Lead Pastor and Board of Directors to align the organizational design and staff goals with the church’s mission, values, and goals.
  • Own the design and delivery of all internal operations and administrative work streams including finance, human resources, operations, communications, and volunteer management. This includes strengthening existing systems and building new ones that reflect the church’s growth.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships across the organization to help steward the organization through change and growth.
  • Steward the culture, values, and team experience with all people managers by threading Renaissance values into each objective and deliverable.
  • Oversee the church budget in close partnership with the Board of Directors; Provide staff accountability and regular reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Develop and implement HR systems that ensure HR compliance and talent development. These include, but are not limited to, an annual review process, department goals, and compensation structure.
  • Supervise the Operations department to ensure the success of all operations, volunteer management, and local/global missions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Deep commitment to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and emotional health
  • Alignment with Renaissance Church’s mission and values
  • Thriving personal relationships
  • 8-10 years of professional work experience in management in start-ups, non-profit organizations, or other similar developing organizations
  • 3-5 years in a leadership position, such as chief of staff, program director, church administrator, chief operations officer, or chief administrative officer preferred
  • Demonstrated success having led a team or department
  • Ability to provide leadership across the organization as a member of the leadership team; Experience leading teams toward effectiveness, cultivating a culture of creativity, excellence, and stewardship of church resources
  • Demonstrated success in leading organizational change and innovation
  • Demonstrated success in developing and translating vision into strategy
  • Demonstrated experience managing a budget of $1MM or more
  • Must be both a highly strategic leader and highly relational, able to have difficult conversations with grace, aiming for health and faithfulness to God above all things
  • Exceptional project management skills, with a track record of setting objectives and developing plans involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Approaches their work by listening and seeking to understand before asserting a new direction
  • Responsive to feedback

SALARY RANGE

The estimated salary range for this position is $125,000 to $140,000. Please note that the actual salary offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
