DNA Groups

Discipleship. Nurturing. Accountability.
Essential building blocks for our faith.
*Registration for Fall 2022 DNA Groups is currently closed.*

WHAT ARE DNA GROUPS?

Your walk with God is personal, but it's not individual. DNA Groups (Discipleship - Nurturing - Accountability) provide an encouraging space to wrestle with who Jesus is and what it means to follow him. God made us to be in community, so we need others to help us apply the gospel to our lives. DNA Groups are also a key way that our church ensures you are known and cared for.

If you were in a Community Group during a previous season, the format of DNA Groups differs in a few ways:

  1. The groups are smaller, to encourage more sharing and connection.
  2. The format is different. As opposed to discussions based on the previous week's sermon, group meetings will vary -- some weeks will include a recorded teaching for the group to watch and discuss, and other weeks will include exercises to walk through. All of the content is designed to help us follow Jesus and renew our minds with the gospel.

Groups of 8-10 people will come together--either in person or via virtual video call-- for scripture reading, fellowship, and prayer.

WHAT DNA GROUPS ARE NOT?

While we hope--and certainly expect--you to form friendships with people in your group, DNA groups are not social clubs. We intentionally place everyone in groups where they'll interact with people who have different backgrounds. We believe these diverse perspectives help us get more out of our scripture reading and give us more opportunities to put our faith into action. The ultimate goal is for us all to grow in the way we follow Jesus.

WHEN/WHERE DO GROUPS MEET?

For the Fall 2022 season, we have both in-person DNA groups and online DNA Groups, which will meet during various times in the week (Sunday afternoons, Tuesday mornings, Tuesday evenings, Wednesday mornings, or Wednesday evenings).

We encourage you to choose the day and format (online or in-person) that honors your comfort level and schedule.

People living in the NYC area will be placed in groups with others who also live in the NYC area. Similarly, people living outside of NYC will be placed in groups with others who are not local to Renaissance Church and Harlem.

HOW DO I JOIN A GROUP?
